The Tibet Heritage Fund works on Sewerage, Water, and Housing Improvements for Lhasa's Urban Poor

THF staff in the background are working on improved sewerage and drainage with help from one in the foreground working on loftier aims.

Sewerage spills out onto otherwise clean and well maintained streets. THF is helping the municipality with improved systems.

The housing THF are working on introduces more efficient systems for toilets, bathroom and cooking facilities.

Lager infrastructure improvements are supervised by the small THF staff who hire and train local Tibetans.

New flats are being constructed by the local government - while affordable, they are over crowded with inadequate water and sewerage.

The flats to the left have an average 1 water tap per 42 families. The newer courtyards from THF have 4 per 12 families.

New building techniques (top) compared with the traditional method below which is much more secure when earthquakes hit the region.

THF are working on the re-development of over 90 courtyards like the one above which is nearing completion.
