Sat Sept 2nd Pasig River Slum communities

 

The Urban Poor Colloquium (Philippines) and communities under threat of eviction because of the the Pasig River Redevelopment Project held a forum attended by the Mayor of Manila, the Housing Sec, other government rep.s and multi- national agencies involved in the project. Magsaysay winners Jesse and Jockin also took part.

Impacts: Communities were granted four months to develop and put forward an alternative proposal the present scheme.

Savings and Credit workshop in Cebu, organized by Philippines Homeless Federation with participation and observation of groups from 18 Philippines cities and internationals from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India. Cebu City housing process facts and plans about the Cebu’s informal settlements development with site visits for international guests..

 

Mon Sept 4th    Cebu City Sec Ten Launch Preparations

 

A Workshop to plan Security of Tenure Launch in Philippines, with community and NGO representatives from 18 Philippines cities to be launched in each city simultaneously in November 2000.

Tues Sept 5th          World Bank, ADB, Govt and NGOs

A Meeting which brought together NGOs community, government and multi-laterals such as the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. Discussions focused on up-grading slums relocations in the Philippines; community and the world Bank in India and directions for future cooperation.
