The Secretary
General and Executive Committee attempt to act as advocates on behalf
of the regions urban poor, at the local, national, regional and international
levels - to highlight their views and interests and also to promote solutions to city problems.
Many ACHR
resource persons for the Advocacy programme can be drawn from the
region.

Activities

Develop a plan of action for ACHR to play a
more systematic and pro-active role in representing ACHR groups perspective
at national, regional and international policy forum

Research studies, such as on resettlement policies
and/or documentation on successful community solutions to be proactively
used as a basis for dialogue with government officials, regional and
multilateral agencies.

ACHR representation on donor project committee
meetings, at regional and international fora; Organising meetings,
discussions interactions with government, multilateral and bilateral
organisations to influence or intervene in programmes affecting urban poor
communities and the cities within the region.

ACHR groups to play proactive role in offering
lectures or consultation at local and regional institutions
Particular
efforts to strengthen HIC/ACHR relationship and coordinate work in the areas
of land tenure, urban governance, community strengthening /finance and
credit, eviction
prevention. |
